Two Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, who are confronting charges of sedition for shouting anti-national slogans, surrendered before the Delhi Police late on Tuesday night after the Delhi High Court guided them to give themselves in prior in the day.

The two left the grounds in a university vehicle escorted by gatekeepers around 11:45 p.m. furthermore, were taken into care by a police team holding up outside one of the exit gates of the varsity. Special Commissioner of Police Deepak Mishra confirmed the arrest. In the morning, Umar and Anirban moved the High Court looking for a protection in order to surrender yet the court, while guiding the students to surrender, suspended the hearing for security till Wednesday.

Declining to allow between time security against arrest for a day, the Delhi High Court requested that Umar and Anirban educate it about the date, time and place where they wish to surrender.
